A Lubbock graphic artist, historian, petroleum draftsman, and poet, Fred Cowart was also Chief illustrator for Reese Air Force Base. He composed The Firepower Theme, which was written in 1983 in honor of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerobatics team. The materials came from Mr. Cowart's personal collection. At Harris Neck, Georgia, in the remote northern reaches of McIntosh County, the United States government, in the fall of 1942, confiscated the lands along the South Newport and Barbour Island Rivers.
